Welcome to the forum! There are a lot of great people here willing to lend a hand anytime. Often using the search feature (in the toolbar at the top of every page) will lead you to the answers you're looking for. If not, feel free to post a question in the appropriate area.

Please take a moment to view the information linked below my signature to get the most out of your iPad as well as our forum.

Welcome again and enjoy!

I thought mobileme does not accept new subscribers anymore. Is that true?

I guess we all really know, but I think we need a reminder that restarting solves so much. Whether it is an app, your iPad, your computer (to fix an iTunes problem), or your modem or router, sometimes we have to try them all.

You are correct! Here's more info:

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

Note the differences between "restarting" and "resetting". Generally a restart will take care of things. A reset is applicable when an iPad freezes up (quite rare, but it can happen).

Restarting your device

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

(The "sleep/wake button", AKA the "Home button"; the round button on the face of the iPad.)

FWIW I've probably restarted my iPad twice in almost a year and a half of fairly heavy use and both times were due to an app acting up.

Thanks for the tip and enjoy!

restarting is the 1st course action as it solves manny a glitch issue, and is easy to perform by even the least technical minded (or interested).

At the moment the only way to do that (if your iPad is not jailbroken) is to show the open apps (double click the home key) tap and hold any app icon until they all start to jiggle and then touch the X in the upper LH corner of each app you want to close. Again, most unused apps are in a "wait state" where the run state is stored in RAM for reloading. In other words they aren't doing anything and use very little if any memory (GPS apps, etc. being the exception). If memory gets low the iPad will unload these apps to make way for a new one.

I say "at the moment" because there are already apps for jailbroken iPads that will kill all apps at once (or selective tasks) and it's possible that option will be incorporated in iOS 5 which is due for release shortly.

Hope that helps!

I couldn't tell you. I'd search the iPad Hacking section and if you don't find an answer post your question there. IIRC it's a common JB app.

iPad Hacking - Apple iPad Forum

Best of luck!

I just discovered that the video player apps keep a copy of the videos that they play. If you use OPlayer, xyplayer, etc. and you seem to be using to much storage, check to see how many videos you kept that you didn't mean to.

The screenshot trick is a real gem. Used it many times..

If I do online banking transaction via iPad, I use that feature on the completion screen then email it to the payee ;).

The 'bubble' feature worth a mention, very useful to insert the cursor when editing, or to read a difficult bit if text, place finger where needed wait a second and the magnifying 'bubble' appears.

To expand the text press the home button 3 times rapidly, do again to restore normal size.

If using a small text panel, swipe with 2 fingers to move up or down.

If you have an open folder in Pages, when you switch to Mail to download an attachment and select "Open in Pages," the attachment will appear in the open folder.
