You are correct! Here's more info:I guess we all really know, but I think we need a reminder that restarting solves so much. Whether it is an app, your iPad, your computer (to fix an iTunes problem), or your modem or router, sometimes we have to try them all.
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Again, most unused apps are in a "wait state" where the run state is stored in RAM for reloading. In other words they aren't doing anything and use very little if any memory (GPS apps, etc. being the exception). If memory gets low the iPad will unload these apps to make way for a new one.
I say "at the moment" because there are already apps for jailbroken iPads that will kill all apps at once (or selective tasks) and it's possible that option will be incorporated in iOS 5 which is due for release shortly.
Hope that helps!
I couldn't tell you. I'd search the iPad Hacking section and if you don't find an answer post your question there. IIRC it's a common JB app.richsadams said:At the moment the only way to do that (if your iPad is not jailbroken) is to show the open apps (double click the home key) tap and hold any app icon until they all start to jiggle and then touch the X in the upper LH corner of each app you want to close.
