Updating To OS 5

I am using the first ipad with the first OS, can I update straight to OS 5 or do I need to update previous OS updates first.

No need to upgrade to any intermediate versions. Just go straight to iOS 5

Just to highlight what you've already stated - the important part about upgrading the iOS is the bolded part. Helps a lot...

P.S. And FYI, there's no way to incremental upgrade anyway. It's all or nothing with Apple's firmware...

thank you for holding that. O S5 wiped out my ipad1 leaving the connect to iTunes pix and the new ITunes 10.5 saying it had no serial or OS
Rebooted and used iTunes to restore Looks good but I still can not enable ICloud just get failed with no error code
But I had backed up so my IPad works again

Ok just upgraded last night and i experienced the wipe and restore. After several hours things are starting to work right. I had to reload my applications from itunes. They were listed as purchased but not installed. I was able to restore them all.

Quick question for everyone that has upgraded. When you list update by wifi. My iTunes keeps starting when it see the ipad on the wifi network. So everytime i close itnues it restarts when i connect to my home network. Seems wrong but asking fro the general consensus.
