Apple has announced that iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models will be delivered to U.S. customers who pre-ordered in time for “late April” delivery on April 30. The new models will also be available at Apple retail stores the same day beginning at 5:00 p.m. As with the iPad Wi-Fi, Apple retail stores will offer a free Personal Setup service to each customer who buys an iPad Wi-Fi + 3G at the store, including helping them to setup email and load apps. Apart from selling for $130 more than their Wi-Fi-only counterparts, the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models are also 0.1 pounds heavier, feature a prominent black strip at the top of back plate for antenna access, offer up to nine hours of web surfing over 3G, and are slightly larger than the Wi-Fi-only models.

Is this for real this time? They keep jumping the gun and I've seen like 4 "official" dates this week...lol

Yup it came out around 6 AM EDT which is 3 AM PDT.

Multiple blogs and news sites have picked up on Apple's statement. Apple can start shipping any time now but instruct the carriers to hold the iPads until Friday April 30 so everyone gets one at the same time.

I suspect some will get theirs on Saturday May 1 having missed the Friday release for one reason or another, say for not being present to sign for the package.

CUPERTINO, Calif. (AP) -- Apple says a second wave of iPads will reach customers' homes and U.S. stores on April 30.
Apple Inc. started selling its new touch-screen tablet computer in early April. It can connect to the Internet using Wi-Fi.
The new models will be able to use cellular connections as well and will cost $130 more than the Wi-Fi-only versions.
The least expensive has 16 gigabytes of storage space and will sell for $629. The most expensive, with 64 gigabytes of storage, will cost $829.
The new models can connect to AT&T Inc.'s mobile data network.
People can pay for the data plan one month at a time.
Apple says people who pre-ordered the 3G iPads will also receive them on April 30.

What time or even will they be available at Best Buy?

It said Apple Stores not 'Buy Mart'. I think it would be funny to see an episode of Chuck where the 'Ring' using those Android Ring phones is trounced by NSA and CIA using the iPad. The good guys already use an iPhone in just about every episode.

Am I the only person who noticed this battle between good and evil play out on a TV series?

:D:):):):):D
