What's new

Weather

We are enjoying sunshine and heat here. It's cooler inside the house, but it's lovely sitting out on the deck, fanned witha cooling breeze, and with an iced drink by my side. :)

Gonna try. Central Alberta is going crazy right now. We have 4 inches of rain forecast over the next 48 hours, severe thunderstorms and possibly more tornadoes. Worst place to be is in the foothills of the Rockies. Now where am I? Oh, yeah. The foothills of the Rockies. Whoops.

Thanks, you two. I'll shut down and head for safety if things go wrong. I'm finished work for today. Nothing to do but watch the clouds gather.

Kevin, it all sounds pretty heavy. Take care, and I hope you and your's stay safe.

BTW, how do you sort out your rig? Do you have to tie down the tractor unit if an extreme storm is approaching? Guess trailers have loose coverings etc removed and packed away.

I'm guessing there are tried and tested measures to protect livelihoods, and to have heavy vehicles available for clearing up, if necessary, afterwards.

Not much to do really apart from watch the sky and try not to be in the same place as a tornado. They are pretty rare here, but I'm sure your cousins in Edmonton could tell you about the tornado that ripped through a trailer park a few years ago.

My biggest problem is the off road driving. It's not always easy to find a suitable turnaround point with a vehicle that is 80 feet long. I use a flat bed so wind is not as big a problem as it is for vans and tankers.

Thanks Kevin.

Yes, I'm going to email my cousins to see how things are. I will always remember the hail storm in Calgary and the extremely heavy rain in Edmonton.
