Not much to do really apart from watch the sky and try not to be in the same place as a tornado. They are pretty rare here, but I'm sure your cousins in Edmonton could tell you about the tornado that ripped through a trailer park a few years ago.

My biggest problem is the off road driving. It's not always easy to find a suitable turnaround point with a vehicle that is 80 feet long. I use a flat bed so wind is not as big a problem as it is for vans and tankers.

Are you still in Kansas Kevin?

We dodged the bulk of the bad weather in my sector. A lot of thunderstorm related power failures.

For all the fuss we got very little rain. Area wells are running dry.

Anyone who has 3 days of steady rain to spare feel free to send it to Ontario.

It's nasty here too-- severe thunderstorm warnings, flood alerts. Feast or famine-- either no rain or too much..lol

We are also under the patio umbrella. The front bedroom curtains are drawn to keep the room cooler.

Totally best place for me. I get sunstroke easily. My next door neighbour however is mowing the lawn. Mad men and englishmen? Why not the cooler evening?

Is it males? They will mow the lawn, no matter how hot it gets.

Not in my house. ;)

Things have calmed down, it appears. Nothing like as bad as we were led to believe.

Found an injured bird in my back yard an hour ago. Think it was hurt during last nights storms.

Appears to have a damaged wing and a broken leg. Looks like a Snipe or a Woodcock.

The bird sanctuary is closed til the morning. Keeping it warm in the house til then.

(posted in Weather thread because the bird is a storm casualty.)

Aww. Bless. Let's hope it survives the night.

Thank goodness you survived Kevin! Scary things though! No matter how false!
