Well we are all hoping that you now also don't get those bloody fires! Honestly, Brissy does not really need that on top of those crazy heavy floods not that long ago. So far OK in South Australia aside from some dopey fire bugs starting spot fires around the place.

Amen to that.....there is so much of Queensland that is very dry right now and it really wouldn't take much to set certain areas off. Just hope it doesn't come to that. We have been doing a lot of drives in the country in the past few months and have seen many areas that have been burnt back in preparation for summer, I hope these steps do make a big difference.

Don't get me started on those fire bugs.....just so ridiculous that they would put so many lives, both human and animal, and property at such great risk.

Indeed. The news of the bush fires in Tasmania was not happy reading.

No, it's not nice seeing all the reports of what has happened. They are still searching for fatalities from it but there have been over 100 properties burnt to the ground and that's just in Tassie.

Queensland where I live is feeling the brunt of the heat wave now with some places recording temps of 45 - 47° today. Just not good at all. :(

We need to find a place with a happy medium. Sounds like you could seriously burn in Oz right now. Hope you lot stay safe. Meanwhile, I'm basking in moderately comfortable temperatures. -12°C today. Very warm for the time of year.

Burn is right and we are slathering on the sunscreen......there are some very red people around now..it's painful just looking at them.

Surfers Paradise is really the top tourist area on the Gold Coast here and there are many tourists from overseas here now who have no idea they will burn and burn very quickly. They are going to be mighty sore! ;)

First thing you learn in a hot country, slap on the cream and wear a hat. ALL THE TIME. reapply after going in the water! Yup! Sure do remember those hot sunny days. Sigh!

Indeed. Also get the heavy work done no later than 1 hour after sunrise! :)

This message is brought to you from a cool and wet Greater London / West Kent area.

Ah! To enjoy some coolness, weather wise I mean. But still, keep an eye out there, you never know.

Lol...good one The OB. Windy and 'warm' here at 5°C with showers. Supposed to be 12°C with rain by the weekend!

It was a nice sunny afternoon. A little cool, but calm. Perfect for a walk.

I can't believe that we have corn snow in January! It is now 9°C with wind gusts to 65kph sunny without a cloud in sight. Feels like spring.
