Weather

When we lived in Alberta, my wife and I skied every weekend late November through late April - if snow coverage permitted. Once, we lost our minds and went to Lake Louise when it was something like -30C, but no windchill. But we failed to consider that our tendency to ski aggressively meant we'd be creating our own windchill. More than 3,000 vertical feet later both of us had few moving parts.

The thaw will speed up when the warm wet weather arrives this weekend. I hope folks in the UK have built loads of snowmen per Environment Agency recommendations. The idea is that snowmen melt more slowly… and slowed water run off during the thaw reduces flooding risk. :)

Four inches of snow today. And a few days of tolerable winter here. I hope it doesn't all melt on Tuesday when we may have a high in the 30s (f).

We didn't have enough lasting snow to make one ;)

It's been raining overnight, and the snow has almost gone.

There were remarkable photographs of yesterday's paper of firefighters who were tackling a blaze in severely sub zero temperatures in Chicago. Everything was covered in ice - buildings cars and even the firefighters. It looked like a scene from an ice sculpture. It was absolutely surreal. :)

Yes it was! They have been tearing it down the past few days. It reignited 3x. Those poor firefighters!
