Too true and I'm sorry to be brutal but the odd foot stomp doesn't go amiss either! Especially when they have chomped my lupins flower stalk right through. I've got two lupin flowers indoors now instead of outside!

I heard that if you put out a pan of beer at night, they all end up there in the morning and dead.

Gardener's trick? No clue.
