I don't know Kay. The idea of having a BBQ is to grill over a real fire (wood, briquettes etc...). If you use gas then you may as well do it indoors. Yes, it's more mess but it's the taste from the various wood flavours that give the meat an outdoorsy flavour.
Having said that, we do have a gas BBQ for when it's too windy, rainy etc...

I don't find charcoal briquettes and lighter fluid an especially appealing flavor, lol. (I don't think many people use actual wood for grilling nowadays in most burbs and cities, though you might, because you live in a rural area.)

The grills we have are actually two-fers that allow gas or charcoal, and there's some way to add wood for smoking purposes to impart flavor. I'm clueless how they work, because my husband does all the cooking and grilling. I like the results, though, lol.

I know what you mean about the smoky favor of real wood-cooked meat, but I don't think most people are cooking it that way at home. I'm a big barbecue fan, and real barbecue to me comes from the Texas Barbecue Trail, where they do use wood, straight from trees, and local meat. I've been three times on cross-country trips, and love it. Those decades-old barbecue joints are the real thing, and I don't expect that at home.

Watching The Fall Guy - all those faces from Dynasty and the $6m Man!

Waiting for someone to take up my challenge on what is it?

Your job sounds interesting, if not extremely important, Philip396.

I'm currently labelling a family group photo (91) people in my DTP programme.

Hi Skimonkey
We haven't heard from you since the race and was wondering how his boat "Go Cornflake Rah Rah Rah" got on? I see "Windquest" won. Hope your husband is back safely & drying out the c/flakes ? :-)
