What's new

What are you guys doing right NOW??? ;)

I was refused service at a Wendy's drive-thru in California because I didn't have a vehicle. Apparently drive-thru doesn't mean walk-up. When I showed the young lady the vehicle I was driving (Volvo VN660 with 48 foot reefer trailer) and offered to attempt to drive-thru, she changed her mind, and served me.

That's barely believable!!! Don't mean your not taking the truck through:-) but that she wouldn't serve you as a walking customer. Where on earth did that rule spring from?

It would certainly be illegal over here--a case of blatant walkism, a dastardly discrimination.
Report her to your local MP.

Well I don't think they have MPs in Cali. And I'm British living in Canada so not much point in screaming "I pay my taxes", but she did eventually serve me. I don't think she ever did see the funny side of driving a semi through a drive-thru.

Where I come from,no drive through window will serve a walking customer.

I think it's a liability issue. Drivers don't expect to see a pedestrian in a drive thru lane.

Then why can't they have a walk up window that doesn't hinder traffic flow?

Means another dedicated employee on shift. Increased operating costs.

If you can walk up outside, you can walk up inside.

They don't serve walk-ups because they're liable if you're run over by a drive-thru customer. Some drive-thrus have signs actually saying they don't serve pedestrians because of that.

Some fast food restaurants close their seating area at night but keep the drive through open.

I could have made it a lot easier. If I'd driven through the drive-thru, the restaurant would have been open (like a sardine can).
