What's new

What are you guys doing right NOW??? ;)

I'm afraid I don't know Chicago that well, so its addresses don't mean much to me. I've never been there long enough to catch a game even, staying a week or so at most. When there, I've tended to stay in the downtown core, do the architectural tours and museums, and grab a bite in Chinatown or the Gold Coast. It's a great city with so much to do.

I forgot about Safeco. My cousin is stationed in the Coast Guard up there. I went to several Mariner games last year. I really like that stadium as well.

Yes, nice stadium and surrounds. I like Pioneer Square's character. It's really sad that the Elliott Bay Book Co. closed, though. I have found memories of it, and there's no replacement.

Play ball, part 2.

I miss those beautiful marquees. There's no glamour in a multiplex.

Taking a boat ride on the Ottawa River in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Here's the Prime Minister's official residence.

This is the Mint.

About half a kilometre down stream a crew is using a dredging barge to see if they can recover gold and silver tailings from the mint.

Here's is the first or last lock, depending on whether you're ascending from the Ottawa River to the Rideau River or descending from the Rideau.

Just below the mint about half a kilometre down stream from the mint, a crew is using a dredging barge to see if they can recover gold and silver tailings from the mint.

Impressive looking buildings, befitting their importance! Those lock gates are pretty impressive too, but then the river is a substantial size just there. What gets me is the dredging for the Mint tailings! They must actually expect to find enough that are able to get past the security measures there must be in place.

Yes I'm not entirely clear on the arrangement between the salvagers and the Mint. I do know there's a philanthropic aspect to it so I suspect that helped smooth the way for permits etc.

I do like your photos of scenes from the river, AA. Some of the buildings remind me of Scotland in their appearance.
