What's new

What are you guys doing right NOW??? ;)

Also, make blocks or Lego available to her in unstructured play. Those and a container of water with different shapes of cups, anything that will hold water, as well as things that have holes in them. As simple as that sounds it actually begins a foundation for math and other science subjects that as she grows older will be far more structured. And, of course, J. A. is right, reading to her, listening to classical music softly, will help immeasurably in her future. I would stress the non-structured play where she can explore....even put the plasticine in the water without interference. If she starts running around wildly with this stuff is definitely when you NEED to structure and set boundaries of the area she is allowed to move in. Also, an easel with paint and brushes. One point is to add a little bit of soap to the paint to make it easy to wash out of her clothes, hair etc. Hope this helps.

From wHo or for who? Curious me? Can't help myself? I should have been a spy! :) Peace begins with a smile :) - Mother Teresa. iPad 2
LOL
From Canadian children to my students. Mine don't know enough English to understand everything they write. It's easier if I translate them before giving the letters to my students, but it's more work as well.

No kidding! Are the Canadian kids trying to learn German? Don't you want your students to learn a few English words? Like if you find a simple sentence would you let them figure it out? Just curious, really!

No, my students are learning English, and I don't give them the letters without finding out what they do understand. I'll be reading the letters to them - parts of them - and let them translate. It would last too long to read and translate every single sentence. Their homework will be to write an answer.

I write the German translation to make sure they still know everything that's written there when they are at home. Some of the letters are long - a whole page in handwriting -, and there is sometimes vocabulary that my students didn't learn yet. Also, I have to be sure that I understand everything that the Canadian children wrote, or else I'll have to contact the Canadian teacher and ask her.

That is very cool Johanna. Do the students speak any other language? Some of my friends who grew up in Europe know at least 3 languages! It always amazes me! Can they use a computer to translate their letters? Where in Canada do the kids live?

They do speak German, and they learn English at primary school. I know that they have the possibility to learn French or Spanish at secondary/grammar school.
Some of my students have an iPad, maybe they use a translation app, but it's easier for them to read my translation.
This project started last school year, and there's a thread about it: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-school/108123-international-pen-pals-contact-thread.html

Ten minutes, and it'll be over here. I'll have to get up in six hours, so: Good night/day!

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite! Sweet dreams! For you especially today!

Hmm.I think he's searching for his former master. I've never seen such devotion in a droid before.
