Anyone getting anywhere with Julie's challenge? I'm not.

I think we may be stuck here until Julie wakes up and posts another clue. All I got were some photos for the strange signs thread while looking at your guess of Baker,California.

Well, Baker sure is hot. Take it from me. I spent the night there once with the a/c on full blast and still couldn't sleep cos it was so hot. Wondered why the Mad Greek's parking lot was empty. People eat there then go park on to of the hill towards the Nevada border. Live and learn.

We stopped at the Mad Greeks and ate there, it sure was damn hot!

I'm thinking Julie's WITW is in Australia because of the trees you can see.

Verdict is in. You've got the scent, but you're still on the trail.
Have forwarded challenge answer to leelai. Rack time.

That's kind of funny that we've eaten at the same restaurant, considering neither of us live anywhere near the place.

And it is in the middle of nowhere too! Small world and all that!

I need someone to take possession of the latest challenge. I'm about to hit the sack.

I've sent a PM to leelai with the details of the latest challenge.

Yep got it Kevin and will look out for any posts.

Re: wagon challenge.
Wanted one of those when I was a kid - settled for this instead.

Not that one but roughly the same mid 30's (when new) vintage. My father's I think because it was rescued from the loft of my grandparents barn.

I've actually walked under the wagon in the challenge. When standing directly under it I couldn't reach the bottom of the wagon box with my hands stretched out.

I was just having a look to see if I could find yours. I did, btw. I also found a guy in Alaska who had turned his car into a road legal Radio Flyer. Talk about a second childhood.

You mean this one.

That would be the one, yes.

Incidentally, I've been thinking about how we can keep gameplay moving without getting overly complex. How about this?

Noob challenges. 1 hour, then automatically open. Specify whether it's for total noobs or 3 time winners. When setting noob challenges we should keep an eye on the number of people online. There's not much point in setting them if there are only 50 members online. You have to remember that a large percentage of members are on the Dragonvale and Modern Warfare threads and never go anywhere else.

Posts requiring further clues, 1 hour if the poster is online, or has specified a person to handle the challenge in their absence. Two hours if the poster is offline. If no further clues are given, the challenge is declared void, and thrown open. Send me a PM if this happens so that I can delete the voided challenge. If I'm offline and it looks like the thread is going to get messy, ask leelai to do it, but don't bug her too much. She has a life outside iPF.
No clues to be asked for within 1 hour of the challenge being set. People should be encouraged to at least try the challenge as set. We have solved some incredibly difficult ones without clues in the past.

If we get any educators joining in, we should be prepared modify the rules to allow them to fit the game into their classroom schedule. This may mean placing the current challenge in abeyance, and setting one, or allowing them to set one, specifically for the period of time they have available. We'll have to see how that works in practice. 170 people have viewed the thread in the school section, so there is evidently some interest, although there have been no replies.

Looking at the rapidity with which WitW has climbed into the top 10, it will likely get into the top 3 or 4 in pretty short order. If that happens, I would suspect that more people will join in, so we should keep it as user friendly as possible. "Anything Goes" has been running for a year and is only 500 posts in front. Once WitW overtakes that one, there will only be two Dragonvale and one Modern Warfare threads in front. Needless to say, we need to keep our house very much in order as ambassadors for iPF. We are almost certainly turning up in Google searches already.

Any thoughts, give me a shout.
