Why do IOS updates always turn bluetooth on when it wasn't on before the update?

So when you find it and turn it off your battery life gets much better - that way if it is less than before the update it doesn't seem so bad cause you just made it better :o :) ;)

Well, just updated my iPad 2 & wife's iPad Mini to iOS 7.0.4 - on return, both had BT on - so agree! Turned off in settings & did a 'Reset' on each device (my routine after these OS upgrades/updates) - after the latter the iPads returned to life w/o BT activated - not a big issue but will look forward to further posts - Dave :)

I think this the default set up for every new update. Maybe bluetooth has a great role in updating devices in my opinion. I am not sure really. I also found some settings that is turned on. Like location services if I could remember.

Maybe the devices turn this on automatically to send in data. So that the data of the updates sends in. Or so that it sends the data to Apple to see how many devices run the new update. Or maybe both.

I still think of this a opinion.

When I'm connected to Wi-Fi, it's useless to turn on Bluetooth as well, just to send data (btw it can't send anything, when it's not tethered to a phone). Just my thoughts. :-)

I found that feature turned on as well (but not Location Services). First thing i did after updating, before resetting, was turn it off. I didn't notice this in iOS 6 before. It gets enabled every time you update in iOS 7, though.

I wonder why this happens. I will see if I figure something out.

If you do not need Bluetooth turn it off as yes it saves battery life. As I said I believe it is a default. So when an update occurs it defaults various system stuff back to out of the box.... I again cannot confirm this with the latest update.

On another note I wish to thank our team of volunteer moderators and admin team plus our in specialist users (members whom make ipadforums their second home)whom with out question dedicate their time answering problems and sorting issues 24/7. Our goal is for every one to be able to enjoy the experience of using the iPad and not being concerned about some of the problems that show up and iin addition share stories about your experiences in using iPads no matter where you live in the world.......

Thanks for all of the replies. It can be anoying if one dossn't not totice the setting, as Bluettoth will kill the battery, if none of the paired devices are availabe.
