What would it buy them? Will they sell more iPads? Doesn't seem likely since they're having trouble keeping up with supply as it is but even if it were the case Apple seems quite content to keep to their own little niche. They don't need to own the whole market, just the whole market for people who want their product.

Does it need to directly buy them anything? Its about customer experience. I dunno. Honest to god, I know quite a few people who will not buy an iPad because of its lack of Flash support. The popularity of these workaround browsers is a testament to the desire for it. You may say otherwise, but Steve Jobs has been such a successful CEO because he has taken Apple out of the niche market and made it mainstream. Going back would be a failure.

I've never heard of anyone blaming Android for Flash crashes. And besides, I have a hard time believing that Apple is catering to the lowest common denominator.

If Flash dies, there would be no one happier than me. I just don't see it happening anytime soon.

I'm rather on the fence about it. It's not uncommon for Flash to crash my Chrome browser on my desktop, so I can see where they are coming from in terms of providing a more bug-free experience.

I also think the Internet is a much better place because the iPad and iPhone don't support Flash. It pressures people to move off Flash, which is a good thing.

But I do get irritated when I can't see something because of the restriction.

Exactly my thoughts, and i am willing to make the sacrifice (no flash) for the short term. When people move away from flash in the future, this current annoyance will be remembered nostalgiacly

Can't say I miss flash at all either, I don't even give it a thought on a daily basis, iOS does not and will not support flash, get over it or don't use Apple products - that's what I think!

Apple has always been the one who will make the leap of faith. They and almost every expert out there knows that Flash is the past, not the future. And like many times in the past, Apple has dropped support for outdated technology. The result is other manufacturers have to work to move forwarded. The sites that use Flash have been making the move to HTML5 ten times as fast as they would have without the iPad and iPhone. Every day, more and more sites are dumping or allowing alternatives to Flash.

Just think, in five years, children will be asking, "Daddy, what is Flash?".

Yep. Reminds me of that Robot Chicken Zune Man sketch (I'm a Zune lover so don't hate on me, Zune lovers!)...

Steve Jobs: "Who are YOU?"

Zune Man: "I'm ZUNE!"

Steve Jobs: (short laugh) "What a terrible design."

Zune Man: (kneeling in front of Jobs, who is holding a loaded pistol): "Make it quick."

Steve Jobs: "I don't want to waste the bullet." Then walks away.

Zune Man: "Please....don't leave me like this! NOOOOooooooooo"

Boy, walking with his dad as they pass by Zune Man in his moment of despair: "Dad, what's that?"

Man: "Well...I think it's a pager."

I love that...lol. That made me spit coffee on my screen. Thanks!:D

No, not just you...

...me too. Based on this thread, I did buy Puffin app. I have been playing with it now since earlier this morning-->in between chores :).

There is a little lag time when viewing websites with videos. BUT no problem seeing any website now. For example, with Puffin, I can actually launch Motorola's website that extols all the virtues of going Android via the Xoom tablet. Before Puffin purchase, that website told me I didn't have the latest version of Adobe Flash and invited me to download it.

This is what I get in Safari:

But is the audio lagging a lot for you on videos? The videos are choppy as well, but I guess I can deal with that. The audio makes them unwatchable IMO.. Its not just a little behind

I wonder why the Motorola site uses Flash?;) All I have heard from the Flash crowd is that there are no excuse acceptable for Apple to deny their addiction to Flash. The is one very simple reason. APPLE DOES NOT WANT TO SUPPORT FLASH! If you want it, they are not stopping you from going elsewhere. Apple does not need to answer to anyone that wants Flash. You, the customer, makes your choice. If it is important to you, ignore iOS devices. If you buy an iPad or iPhone, you have decided it is not important enough. If you are whining about a product you have bought, then you did not do your research enough. If you are whining about the iPads and have not bought one, you are acting like a troll.

The is no reason for the number of pages spent on this subject. Why not complain that MS Office is not on the iPad? But then you would have to gripe to Microsoft. Too many people want to just gripe because the world is not perfect. There will always be limitations in hardware and software, compounded by the limitations in operator skills.
