I though I would be until I tried the Playbook from Rimm for a week. For watching videos and listening to music it is ok, but for reading and browsing the web it's just too small.
Sure the case is smaller but you still can't really carry it in your pocket. Phones screens are now up to almost 5 inches so I rather carry that and when I want to do some real browsing I will use the 9 to 11 inch screen.

I'll pass on a iPad Mini. Original screen size is perfect. Not sure why they would waste the time, money and effort to produce something a couple of inches smaller.

My wife has the Kindle Fire. It's to small in my opinion.

I have a kindle fire as well. Although it is no comparison to my ipad2, it is surprisingly a very well made product.

I like the size of the current iPad cause it replaces the laptop idea for me. I love it. I would Not like the smaller size.

Hecks no! I don't even have a smartphone/touch because the screens are too small. I love my 10".

Personally no. I have a smartphone and iPad, I have no need for intermediate screen sizes.

There is no need to improve on this format, especially with reference to size of screen.
Movies/videos are great, documents are easy to read this is an invaluable asset for my business as well as home.
If it's not broken don't fix it.

It's neither 9.9" or 10". It's 9.5" x 7.31", but Apple references 9.7-inch (diagonal)
