What's new

Architecture - buildings that is

Looks like the vehicle assembly building at the Kennedy Space Centre, originally built to assemble the Saturn 5 launch vehicles for the Apollo program.

That'll explain what I see in the foreground.....I was thinking that it might be a stack of garden pods........

Oops, sorry I wasn't clear about that. The Nikon copier I used does backlight the slide.

This post handcrafted from 100 percent post-consumer recycled electrons.

Thanks mate, and thanks to your good points here you've resurrected a lot of memories about this whole area that I am now going to look into more.

Here are some photos of the Regina Armouries, built in 1928 and the home of several Army Reserve units.

The first phase of the new grocery store opens in half an hour. Demolition of the remaining portion of the original store begins shortly.

Here are some photos that show how what's left of the original building butts up to the new construction. The orange tarp is covering the temporary wall on the old building, which was built when about a third of the original structure was demolished last summer. Demolition of the remaining old obstruction begins on Monday.

Wow, we have a saying over here "a tidy site is a safe site" I'm guessing that contractors there don't have that saying? Having worked on projects for the likes of Walmart in the past they are really hot on safety. I'm also surprised that you can get in there to take those pictures.

The connecting doors between the new store and the old store were open, the third picture shows the space between the two buildings. I took the photo while standing in the open doorway in the new store. The door opens right onto the sales floor, so I didn't have to wander where customers were not allowed.

Leaving those doors open would be a disciplinary issue here (as well as an offence under the Health & Safety At Work Act) but I'm more worried about what is behind those doors......it's an accident waiting to happen for the contractors workforce.

It's probably a Health and Safety issue over here, as well. If the doors have to remain open for business purposes, someone should have been stationed there to make sure that people didn't wander where it wasn't safe.

Yep, that is exactly what would be required here too but geez, how little do they think of their workers to allow them to work in that mess.
