Demolition has started on the remaining portion of the old Safeway store in my neighbourhood.

Great shots of happenings in your part of the world scifan. Really interesting all these updates. We had the "Safeway" supermarket chain here many years ago before they disappeared or were taken over with a name change. Interesting that name is still continuing.

Maybe not for much longer, the Safeway stores in Canada were bought by Sobeys. A name change may be in the cards.

out here Sobeys bought out Thriftys.A different management style for sure.And also so much stock sold that is their own food brand "compliments" That is not sourced from N. America.and no info on where the food was grown.

It amazes me how a member of the public can get so close to demolition works without being challenged. Their site security really needs a kick up the rear for starters! :O

Here are the latest photos of the ongoing demolition of the old Safeway store in my neighbourhood. As soon as this is finished, construction of the remaining portion of the new store can commence.

Evening update; The roof is gone, with just a pile of rubble remaining. The only part still standing is the section that contained the deli.

The demolition crew doesn't hang about.

It will be a relief for residents and shoppers when the whole project has been completed.

We were in Paternoster Square by St Paul's yesterday......





The redevelopment of the area is really attractive.....







One of the old gateways into London, Temple Bar, has been restored. It was redirected pretty well on its original location....

The last of the old Safeway has been demolished and the site cleared. Construction of the remaining portion of the new Safeway store will begin shortly.
