DVD conversion from windows to iPad 2

I am the new guy. I am sorry if this has been posted before, in advance. Can someone suggest to me, what software would allow me to transfer my DVD collection to my IPad? I am operating Windows on a dell. I have googled some programs and there are several out there to chose from. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Format Factory is free and is very good for converting any audio or video media to other formats.

I'm in the same boat. Don't mind paying for a program if it is reasonable, but free is better, assuming it works.
