Food anyone?

There is a programme on BBC2 right now which is part of a series of four episodes, called "Exploring China: A Culinary Adventure". It looks fabulous and really gets into the heart of the place, I'd recommend it to anyone who has access to the BBC iPlayer and is interested in Asian food and/or culture.

Thanks for this, Gabe. I will be catching up on the iPlayer while enjoying the weather as I sit out in the garden.

3 episodes so far and they are fantastic.......a real insight into China and I felt so hungry after each episode.......although not everything was to my taste, there is plenty there to enjoy!

I've got a mini U.N. in my belly -- Vietnamese vermicelli with spicy lemongrass beef, Greek yogurt (pomegranate flavor) and a Japanese mochi. The yogurt and mochi came from a Korean store, lol. Now I'm craving an espresso.

Having fresh pineapple and papaya. Both are so good, but what a lot of work to get to. If all food took this much work, I'd starve.

LOL--I have my dad do it for me--he can cut open a pineapple or papaya in no time!! I wouldn't ever buy a pineapple to cut myself, just can never do it right!! I feel the same way as you do, but also with seafood: crabs, crab legs, shrimp. Anything that you have to peel which makes your hands all wet and grubby. It may be fun the first time, but than that novelty wears away!

Just had an open top chicken breast sandwich and a lemonade! For dessert, going to have a crunch white peach!!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't like to roll up my sleeves for food. My talent for food is in the eating of it, not the prepping, lol. I buy a pineapple once in a blue moon. And each time, I'm reminded of why I don't buy them more frequently.

Am going dangerously against the flow here:-)...but I actually *enjoy* preparing things like pineapple, cooking apples & veg etc!

Think this peculiarity started when we bought a very big Sabatier knife, which just gets the cutting jobs done beautifully. Not all types of cutting of course, but those that need big, satisfying chomps. We actually fight over who gets it first:-)

This came home to me when my visiting sister chose a tiny serrated knife to cut big carrots--it made me shiver to watch her. Her take was that the big knife was "dangerous". It's the complete opposite!!! (IMHO)

What do you guys use?

(Or, for the Open Mouths among us, NOT use??:-):-):-))

I use my trusty "KitchenAid" can opener to tear off the lid on a tin of Dole (shameless brand name plug) pineapple. :)
