Your strategy sounds good, Kay.

A great pleasure from travelling is to eat the local dishes. Discovering a country's foods is, IMHO, a vital way of learning about and enjoying where you are. Be adventurous within reason. Life is for living :)

Exactly. My strategy is always to eat lightly, but taste a lot. What I've learned from traveling and grazing is not to fill up, because there's always something delicious around the corner, and you don't want to be too full to try it as well, lol.

I've just converted a traveling companion to this approach. It's great when you have people to share food with, because you can sample more.

It's Thanksgiving in Canada.
Dessert is served.

You half fill the pie shell with pumpkin then put pecan pie mixture on top.

I can almost smell those pies through my iPad screen! Are you having turkey as well, Admiral?

House full of vegetarians.
Candied yams, garlic mashed potatoes,
braised buttered carrots in rosemary and for protein, Lentil Loaf. Yah, I know what you're thinking but it's very tasty - especially with the Admiralty's to-die-for "30" mushroom gravy.

:)

PS - since our herbivore conversion, there seems to be more room for dessert. ;)

We sell a vegetarian product at my store, it's called Tofurkey. Have you heard of it?

Funny we were just talking about Lakeside Packers a couple of weeks ago. Now a vegetarian diet looks like a good idea. Never cared much for the taste of E. Coli.

Pretty scary isn't it.
I'm surprised the CFIA has been allowed to become sloppy.

My in-laws run a sanctuary for abused farm animals. This little guy fell off a truck and was found near their farm, in a ditch, injured.

I kinda fell for him and couldn't imagine his kind on my plate anymore.
