My in-laws run a sanctuary for abused farm animals. This little guy fell of a truck and was found near their farm, in a ditch, injured.

I kinda fell for him and couldn't imagine his kind on my plate anymore.

Is the pig still living at your In-laws sanctuary? It sure looks cute staring at the camera while standing in the snow.

We sell a vegetarian product at my store, it's called Tofurkey. Have you heard of it?

That sounds a bit hard to chew. :)

Quorn is marketed here as a meat substitute. It isn't too bad.

Still there. All animals placed at the sanctuary, live their lives there.

The sanctuary runs on my in-laws personal funds, donations and sponsorship of animals.
They also have an educational program for children so they can learn about caring for animals.

My son has volunteered on the farm for several summers.

I hate it when people abuse animals!
I admire you guys for helping him :)

We've tried it but the texture is too rubbery for my taste.

We tried it one Thanksgiving. They sold a boxed set of various courses of Tofurkey. It was like chewing a bunch of differently shaped erasers, lol. Good thing we had plenty of real food. It was fun trying, though, and it's become a running joke for us at Thanksgiving.

Anybody from Great Britain used this before?

Yup. Staple diet in my house, when I was a kid.

I put some Saffron on display at the store I work in. It's the most expensive spice in the world. $12.99 for 0.5 grams, or $25,980.00 per kilo.

I was stunned by the price the first time I made "Saffron" rice, considering the main ingredient of the dish is one of the "least" expensive and most abundant food staple, in the world.

It's an extract from the stigma of the saffron crocus. It takes a lot of flowers to make an appreciable amount.
