Food anyone?

Ack... I've spent a lot of time in Singapore. Collectively speaking, you won't find a nicer, kinder, group of people anywhere, but their food makes me yack.

Some of the food is great, but some is gruesome. I once unknowingly ordered what turned out to be a sandwich with a filling of meat floss and condensed milk. Shudder.

Oh my gosh, Kaykaykay, that sounds truly awful. You are right, though, there are some things - one, anyway - that is/are good. Did you ever go out to Clarke Quay in the evening and get those huge shrimp cooked shish-ka-bob style on a stick? THOSE were fabulous.
After several misadventures, however, I would only eat from American fast food chains, or Chinese or Indian food - never the local stuff. The Indian restaurants were great.

I'm not fond of shrimp, so have never had those. But there's great food in Singapore sometimes because of the cultural mix, and sometimes stuff I find inedible, lol.

The weird thing is, the last great food I had from Singapore was an apple strudel that someone hand-carried to Hong Kong while I was visiting a friend there, lol. I didn't bother asking the name of the bakery, but was told that the friend of friend, who gifted the strudel, always brought them back from there. Weird.
