What's new

Gardening!

These are some of my other flowers. Unfortunately the rain is here again. Let's hope no damage. I agree with you Richard. Planters are on the increase. No more space for anything else.
One more week until the invasion of the kittens. Can't wait. It's like having babies. Almost?

I love my roses Leelai. They have to smell lovely. They have to look gorgeous. Pointless having a rose with no smell. Roses you buy in the flower shops have no scent.

Yes that's true they don't have a scent, probably as they have been kept in cold rooms for a time.

These are some of my orchids, mostly purples are in bloom right now, I have some reds also but they are on the way out right now and are past their prime.

They look beautiful Leelai! I love orchids but have never tried growing them. I had a Madeira uncle who grew them.

Thanks Hayley, they are very easy to grow. I have them all growing on trees and they all flower at different times. The yellows will come out in the next month or so and the blooms last for such a long time. I also have gingers, now some of them are finicky to grow but the flowers are so different and gorgeous.....none are out now, it's too cold for them.

Wow! What gardeners you two are. Both the roses and the orchids are lovely. I think they need to add a smell feature to iPad for your roses hayles.

Leelai--your orchids are so beautiful. The only way I can have orchids is if I buy it already in a pot. I can never get it to rebloom with all the directions I read.

Absolutely stunning.

@ Hayles--so love the color in your beautiful flowers! It really is neat to see the different types of flowers that grow in different countries! Thanks for sharing!

Simply gorgeous orchids, they are my favorite flower. Your photos reminded me of my orchid garden I had in Hawaii

Thank you and what a neat idea that would be! I would love to be able to smell Hayley's roses for sure!

All about the weather I think! I really don't do anything special for them and they grow very easily on the trees.

one of my favourites too....you had an orchid garden? would have liked to have seen it.

I guess I have a tropical Cycad garden.....cycads are my favourite plant.

My mum used to grow Cycads in SA. Different countries, different weather. Yes, I wish you could all smell the roses.

Richard...what type of flowers are those...they look like my columbines here!

Very nice pic, by the way.

Hi Skimonkey, they are violas. We like the compact flowers and there is a pretty good range of colours available.
Also, they last for 8 - 12 weeks before turning leggy.
