What's new

Gardening!

That's a lovely coloured Magnolia you have there, Richard! Ours isn't quite there yet. Ours is a paler version. Our bluebells are growing well. Can't wait for them to come out. The forsythias are beautiful around here.

Thank you Hayles. The magnolia gets better each year. We have put in some bedding plants in the front garden. It all looks nice and colourful.

Oh...look at the babies coming up! It's just beautiful, Richard!!

Thank you, Ski. Thank goodness everything survived yesterday's torrential rain showers and very gusty wind. I just had to put a heavy timber pallet back in place after it was blown over.

We do love springtime. May is our favourite month. Hopefully with calmer conditions.

Richard, is that shrub with the pink flowers behind the magnolia a camellia? I put tiny one in last year. It's struggling.

Your garden looks so neat and beautiful. I weeded on and off all day yesterday and barely made a dent. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Hi Bobbi.

Yes it's a camellia. Hopefully the frost doesn't return to burn the flowers. Our white one in the front garden comes out earlier in the year only to get frost bitten.

Many thanks for you comments :)

This poor little thing is the camellia I planted last year. It made it through the winter and has blooms. Perhaps some day it will approach the beauty of yours Richard.

I had a dicentra but the poor bleeding heart died last winter. We were all trying to put up our new gazebo last night. Not an enjoyable experience. We discovered the patio was out by 6 inches so we now have to MAKE it fit! Hee Hee. Oops. Hubby got it wrong. Not a happy chappy. I did wonder whether it would but boys seem to think these things will fit!! Without measuring?

Oh and I'm wondering what Richard put up near his 'crop circle'. Seat with a trellis over the top?

I'm about to post photos on the weather thread and what I see in my backyard thread. I can assure you I got my construction and measurements right. :). Well, the circle was very very slightly dished in the centre, but otherwise level. Phew...

You have a really beaut back yard Richard. Another benefit; less lawn to mow:)

I have an amazing electric mower that can handle tall grass on my rolling hill.Good thing because no one else knows how it works around here. I would like to declare a no engine day in my neibour hood cause I'm grouchy .No lawns no chainsaws no gravel grinding or rotertillers and could someone please move the flight path back to where it used to be away from my neibour hood?

I'm with you all the way on those Dianne, and I know that grouchified feeling when hearing such loud noises in the neighborhood, although luckily we have had no gravel grinding around here. We are under a flight path, but Adelaide airport is far away enough for the planes to be quite a way up. I totally agree with the "no lawns", but declare that for much longer than a day if you would;)

I had shooting all day on Sunday. It gets tedious after a while. It was either clay pigeon shooting or pheasant shooting. All day long!!!
On a Sunday too! Is that a bit unreasonable?
I'm hoping my gazebo copes with this gusty wind. All my precious flowers on my cherry trees are being blown about. I won't have cherries at this rate. Hubby bought me some lavender and ornamental ivy. Some hanging baskets would good
