Those of us who have been jailbreaking for a while will remember when there were several alternatives to Cydia, the default package manager for jailbroken devices. Rock was the main competition and eventually SaurikIT acquired Rock, lock stock, and subsumed it into the Cydia family.
Then there was Icy, a great looking and fast performing package manager alternative, but the project was closed down and put on ice (pun intended) in late 2009, although several attempts were made to release further updates by various teams of developers.
Well, the good news is that Icy is back with a new beta release, compatible with iPad and iOS up to 4.3.2. If you fancy giving it a try, you need to install it through Cydia from the ispazio repository @ repo.ispazio.net
Just remember, this is still a beta and as such will contain bugs!
