What's new

I searched and found this place....very cool.Did you drive? or fly and rent a car?

Drove. We left St. Louis a week ago, and will probably be gone another two weeks or so. Today, we're doing Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt County.

What a nice son. :)

He is. :-)
It wasn't new when he gave it to me. He had used it before.
He gave me this one, because he purchased a better one. I can't recall at the moment if it's a 1 or 5D Mark II.

This was erected in memory of Burgenland becoming the last state of Austria in 1921. It was named Deutsch-Westungarn before and was part of Hungary, but ~75% of the people had German as native language.

Two photos from the Avenue of the Giants, in California's Humboldt Redwoods State Park. On the left, my wife and I stand among the big trees. On the right, she is waving from the other end of the Dyreville Giant, a 375-foot (114 meter) redwood that fell in 1991. The tallest still standing is "only" 346 feet!

Sorry about the fuzzy pictures, but I had to reduce the pref setting to 800 pixels to get the forum to accept the uploads. It used to take the max 1280 setting without complaint, which was far less than the actual iPad3 image resolution but better than 800.

Wonderful photos Lanny. I am in awe of those Redwoods. I saw a few of them when we visited Yosemite National Park a few years ago and just could not get over the sheer size of them.

I'm trying to discern your wife at the end of that giant tree! ;)

Simply beautiful!

Wow Lanny those are certainly giants. It's awesome to think they were growing before America was discovered. You wouldn't want to be standing next one of those plants when they fall down;)

Thanks for sharing your photos Lanny and Johanna.

Lanny, I have read about the redwoods. The National Geographic covered them years ago. That's another sight on my bucket list.

Johanna I love your photo of the forest eye.

Yes, she is. :) It may help to know that she's wearing blue jeans and waving her right hand.
