Image/Photo Thread Of Any Images You Would Like To Share....

This thread has received some really great posts recently.

I do like your cloud photos Johanna. They are dramatic and well composed.

I like the body art you found Diane. I've seen other examples before, but what you found adds a great touch of surrealism.

Then Dave. You are a truly talented person. I wish I had the hand and eye to make such great pieces of woodwork.

Thank you all for sharing. :) :) :)

Thanks! He not only does he make me jewelry boxes, he buys me jewelry to put in them. :):):)

Well, my 'better half' makes a rare appearance - NOW, she adores her iPad Mini but I'm usually able to answer most of her questions - :)

Thanks ALL for the additional comments concerning the woodworking projects - I've got several small piles of hardwoods (work mainly w/ walnut, cherry, mahogany, & oak), so need to come up w/ some more ideas. Actually, one of my former radiology residents has been coming to the basement shop and learning some skills, so we've made 3 or 4 projects together for him & his wife (they just had their first baby, so that might spark some ideas?) - Dave

BELOW - a post that I just left in my 'Classical Music' forum (there is a 'vacation thread' there) - thought for those who liked my previous mountain pictures that these from another area of the North Carolina might interest - Dave P.S. sorry - not displaying as two across so just follow the order of the images down -

Susan & I just returned from a trip to the southwestern mountains of North Carolina - stayed at the Snowbird Mountain Lodge in the Nantahala National Forest (a Cherokee word meaning 'Land of the Noonday Sun') - the mountains are different here than along the Blue Ridge Parkway - almost 'piled up' and touching the sky w/ individual trees more easily recognized. We had a small suite w/ a private deck that had a hot tub - was like living in a tree house - package comes w/ breakfast, superb dinners, & a bag lunch (the main activity is hiking & sight seeing). The trip was in celebration of our 43rd wedding anniversary - YIKES! :)

Some pics below: Top left - morning scene from our deck w/ the 'smoke' rising (these are the Snowbird Mtns) and close to the Great Smoky Mountains (just bordering Fontana Lake); Top right - same mountains from the main lodge building.

Middle left - just another view of the Snowbird Mountains from near the lodge building; middle right - half mile hike to 'Sunrise Point' and an observation deck w/ spectacular views of the same mountains.

Bottom left - opposite direction from 'Sunrise Point' showing a portion of Lake Santeetlah near the town of Robbinsville; bottom right - sun setting over the mountains from our deck - our second visit here and plan to return - Dave :)

I found these on twisted sister. There are many more if you're interested. They are quite fascinating.

These were all made by a 19-year-old Japanese artist named Chooo-san. If you click over to her website, you’ll see these aren’t the only ones.

Hi Squib - those are certainly fascinating pics (reminds me of my anatomy course, first year medical school - WAY back in the late 1960s - WOW!) - Thanks for sharing - Dave :)

Thanks, Girardman! Hi, JA , yummy clouds. Are these one's enhanced or just as you took them? They are lovely. And yesterday I was amazed at how much farmland ( being farmed ) there is. I guess because I saw the 'Sound of Music " I thought Austria was all mountains and snow. Your country is landlocked (.?) and yet you have so many lakes! Also I am always amazed at how big it looks and yet you can go from one end to the other in an hour. I can't quite get it straight in my head. I guess every part of your country is used and inhabited unlike Canada where so much of our country is vacant, and especially out here in the west we have an Island that is more compatible in size to Austria. Keep up the good work Girardman and taking such beautiful photo's of your lovely country Johanna!

My pictures today are edited and enhanced.

Most of Austria is mountain - not always snow. I'm living in the East, and as you see on my pictures, it's flat here.
1 hour through Austria is not enough. You need one day. (Still a short time. :-)) There are also areas where no one is living, especially in the mountains.

Hey, thanks for sorting that out for me! Those farmed fields made such a lovely pattern from above, and with so many shades and values of green! I really enjoyed it. Thanks again for posting. I always enjoy your photo's!

That's a lovely travelogue Dave. Well worth posting on the travel forum under travel stories.

Some of your photos remind me of the Lake District in NW England.

Cheers

Richard
