Do you know what they were transporting? Did it have an escort? Where we're you when you saw it?

The trailer looks VERY familiar and the transport cask looks somewhat familiar to me from a previous life.

Interesting if it is what it might have originally (and possibly still is) been, though it may be of similar design simply due to similarities in weight of cargo and general purpose.

I took that photograph in Vulcan AB. It was parked at the PetroCanada truckstop at the time. I'm not sure what the law is on escorting such a massive vehicle, but I see large trailers with up to three pilot vehicles on a regular basis.

No idea what was being transported, either, but you can get some idea of the weight involved by counting the axle groups. Each tandem group is good for 17 tonnes and each tridem group is good for 24, so the capacity of this one is immense.

A larger version for a LOT of weight

You're so knowledgeable. Interesting info. :):D thanks

Thanks for the compliment, but there are few commodities allowed to be transported in plastic tanks. Those are used on gravel roads for dust control.

The weight is determined b the four axle groups. 2x17 tonne, 1x24 tonne and 5,500 kg on the steering. Actually 63,500 kilograms. They are the heaviest standard vehicle in Canada, although longer and heavier ones exist in different localities.

In BC, especially on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway, vehicles up to 72 tonnes are allowed. In Alberta, we have tractors pulling two 53 foot trailers (I have driven this type). Saskatchewan has the longest in Canada, I believe. The Queen City triple is a super B, pulling a 53 foot trailer. Maybe scifan can get us a photograph of one of these. I've scoured Google Images and can't find a photograph. They are mainly found on highway 11, between Regina and Saskatoon. Eastern Canada has some pretty strange vehicles, including the Drom box, which is a cargo space on an extremely long tractor unit, pulling a 53 foot trailer.
