I hate to be an early adopter, but I've waited so long for this update, I'm downloading it this moment. Here's hoping it's a smooth upgrade, I need to work with this tonight. (But I have the Touch if it doesn't do it...)

The function of that switch changed. It now mutes your iPad. See below for the how to lock your screen. vvvv

The hard key is yes, you access by double click to task bar and swipe left

Where can I read about all the updates and how to use them?
This is what was in the dialog box at the start of the download. Sorry for the long post - didn't know how else to answer...

Uh oh... This doesn't look good. My iTunes seems to be hung up during syncing. It downloaded and installed 4.2, but then it went into syncing mode and is now frozen in step 2 of 4 ("preparing to sync"). The iPad has the apple logo displayed and the progress bar is about 4/5 of the way across to the right.

Not exactly sure what to do except wait and see if something else happens... ??

Take it easy and move slow! Don't get impatient.

Found it! It's the box next to bookmark icon. Got the drop down list and added bookmarks
Why does the user guide tell you to hit the plus sign? There is no plus sign

I'm afraid to update my iPad. I tried the other day and it said the update loaded however after 14 hours of "backing up my iPad" I cancelled the synch. The update didn't take and I'm still on 3.x. I then updated my 3GS iPhone, it took though I lost all my apps that weren't on the first page including my App Store icon so I can't get them back. I've looked but don't seem to see anything on the Aplle support site and iTunes 10.1 keeps freezing on me. Any suggestions would be welcome. Running on Win XP with the latest SP's.

The backup is going to take a VERY long time. Your other option is to download the 4.2.1 update file directly from a site, and do a restore, you lose settings in all your programs, but you don't have to deal with a half a day backup procedure.

Seams that there are problems with people downloading updateing backing up, did have a few things go wrong, i would say that it is a good idea to hard wire your computer as mine had problems on wirless conection of timeing out at the end. but it is all working now.
Is it worth it ha, not that much to me, its not multitasking at all apple should learn what the meaning means. Printing well you have to have the right printer. You lose the orentation button on the side as it becomes a mute switch, yes you get a software one for orentation lock but its more work. You open an app and if you forget to close them all your batt is going to go down quicker. The folder is sort of nice in what it is but not in apperance. Im not sure if this is worth the messing aand all the hype. Not going to update the wifes till i have a good long play with this, as i might go back to the older OS. Reminds me of updateing my PC to Vista from XP spent a week with it and went back to XP. Not so impressed. Multitasking well if it was then i would be a lot happier. Just lets you jump in and out but was just as fast to start and close an app before, now you have to double clip the home button twice more wear and tear and it takes more to do it. Anyone that happy with it.:(

Very happy with the update.

I think the majority are VERY happy with the update. Its a Ipad not a laptop. The multitasking does work as described. And 10.3 comes out in a couple weeks that should address the lack of printers issue. And if not there are already many apps the do.
