Ipad 1 Cannot update items

N my IPad I went to update Pages, Numbers and Accru Weather. It came up with message "Not compatible with IPad" something to that effect. I deleted Pages to reinstall and now that won't work. I am fairly new so please be kind. What's my next option to try?

The new versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote are only compatible with the new iPad iOS5. You'll need to update to the new OS first of all, then you'll be good to go.
