Hello i wanted to ask the ipad 2 is suppose to have an HD back camera and it does since the size of the file is enormous but the quality is very bad... Its not fully clear and i can see the pixels, the front camera is actually clearer... Any normal camera like nikon or samsung who arent even HD have clearer photos, and extermal HD video cameras and normal ones also have 10 times better clearance than the ipad. The iphone is also clearer. Why is this? Its really annoying tht i can c the pixels and its barely clear but not nice at all... I never wna use ipad camera to take any pictures unless necessary, they are all over 0.5 mb wen i have pictures at 0.06 mb looking better...

Are you sure you're taking a still photograph and not an HD video (which is what the back camera was really designed for)? It's a one megapixel camera - so very low resolution by today's standards for still photography, for which it was never designed - but is fine for HD video.

I have just taken photo this whilst sat in my car and I don't think it's too bad at all considering that it's meant for HD video

I think that's the first time I have really used the camera :D

Hello Bilalo - of course, there are innumerable threads on the iPad2 cameras and their usual poor quality.

As already stated the 'back' camera is just under 1 MP in resolution - my first digital camera from over 10 yrs ago was a Sony 2 MP! Pretty primitive thinking on Apple's part but again these are designed mainly for video conferencing and movie making.

If interested, take a look at this thread HERE - shows some pics taken w/ the iPad camera; from my experience 'in-door' still pics are poor; have not taken anything outside but from the photos shown in the linked thread, additional light seems to help.

Bottom line - if you need good still pics, use your hi-res digital camera - :)

Idk what to be more jealous about, your clear picture or your car. :)

Well, the iPad went from no camera in version one, to a garbage camera in version two so that Apple can put a decent camera in version three and get people to spend more money.

I don't think it's really that bad, I use it for eBay everytime

I took video with it also its the same. I can see the pixels ans why cant apple put a normal camera when cameras of 15 megapixels are avaikable and more. They could just put a better one im sure it isnt hard to put a 4 megapixel one or so on... Very disturbing and unexpected of apple.. The iphones camera is ten folds better...

i thought it was just me and my lighting, i didnt know it was meant to be like that. Interesting.

If I need a decent pic I use my digital camera,if I just need a snap I'l use the ipad it's not a problem to me tbh.

I don't normally have digicam with me whenever I need to take picture, I use my mobile cam instead. It works because I don't need high quality pic, I just use them as mail attachment or to insert in my documents.
With my iPad2, I think front camera is more useful for video chat. For me, back cam should serve the same purpose as my mobile cam.

In-house pic from iPad2 front cam. It OK for me.
