The iPad couldn't possibly have been unlocked first though. It must always have been locked. As far as I know there is NO unlockable baseband for the iPad2. The ONLY unlockable baseband was the original iPad1 baseband 06.15.00, and you could never have had that on the iPad2.

Where was your iPad2 purchased from and in which country? It would be very unusual to actually have a locked device without knowing it. You certainly can't buy one without a accompanying SIM contract. What message are you seeing? Have you purchased it second hand as a foreign import?

I got it as a gift.. So I have no clue where it was from..
The baseband has now changed to 4.12.01, in settings>about> it says no sim..

No SIM does not mean it is locked. It can mean the device does not see a SIM card in the slot. Are you sure you have inserted one? Take it out again and re-seat it. Make sure you reboot the device fully...

Aitel in Kenya..

Just to be clear, are you saying it WAS working on 4.3.5 using that SIM on Aitel in Kenya before you upgraded?

If so, there is no way it could have been locked by the update since your old baseband was not software unlockable therefore your device must be factory unlocked.

Yeah.. It worked with all the carriers..
Just tried to different carriers, sat the sim well and rebooted.. Same results..

So I sorted it out..
All I needed to do was turn on cellular data and it searched and recognized the sim!!!!

And sorry for going you a hard time!

Likely to be a problem with the PC. The iPad should be detected OK, regardless of model. Does iTunes detect it?

He doesnt seem to have an itunes yet, but is it required in jailbreaking? Windows detects some hardware connected

Having iTunes installed on the PC is an absolute pre-requisite. The device drivers necessary to make the connection with the iPad come in iTunes! He must install it.

Hi everyone!
I got a problem with my ipad2. Upgraded my soft to 5.1.1 yesterday and I hate it. My 3G has gone crazy. It goes from full reception to 1 bar in places where before it was full non stop. Even if it's full internet keeps dropping and slowing down. I listtoad audio a lot and it's impossible now even when reception indicator is full. It plays for 30s then stops for 20 or just stop playing at all. Before the update it wasn't an issue at all. Never had even a slight problem with reception. It drives me absolutely crazy. Drinks on me for any ideas of solving it.

Nobody got anything?
Maybe some cydia tweak or whatsoever?
Apple got me annoyed a lot now. Right now my iPad is nothing else than very expensive MP3 player...
