Where was your iPad2 purchased from and in which country? It would be very unusual to actually have a locked device without knowing it. You certainly can't buy one without a accompanying SIM contract. What message are you seeing? Have you purchased it second hand as a foreign import?

I got it as a gift.. So I have no clue where it was from..
The baseband has now changed to 4.12.01, in settings>about> it says no sim..
Aitel in Kenya..
f4780y said:Just to be clear, are you saying it WAS working on 4.3.5 using that SIM on Aitel in Kenya before you upgraded?
If so, there is no way it could have been locked by the update since your old baseband was not software unlockable therefore your device must be factory unlocked.

So I sorted it out..
All I needed to do was turn on cellular data and it searched and recognized the sim!!!!

And sorry for going you a hard time!

He doesnt seem to have an itunes yet, but is it required in jailbreaking? Windows detects some hardware connected
f4780y said:Having iTunes installed on the PC is an absolute pre-requisite. The device drivers necessary to make the connection with the iPad come in iTunes! He must install it.
