Restoring iPad3 Backup Onto Another iPad3 or iPad4

Hi, my iPad3 is now defective and attempts to resurrect it are failing. I have a backup done about 2 weeks back on my iPad3, which was on 5.1.1 and jailbroken. I am now considering purchasing a used iPad 3 or iPad 4 and restoring the backup to it. Before I do so, I would like to find out whether I need to check anything in particular on the used iPad 3 or 4 that I am going to buy, or is it sufficient that I ensure that the IOS on that machine is at least 6.1.2 or older. Assuming it has not been jailbroken, does it mean that all I need to do is to jail break it (using absinthe or something) and thereafter restore my backup onto it? Is there anything that I need to watch out for given that the used machine is not within my control and is there anything that the original owner could have done that may cause a problem? My main aims are to restore my 5.1.1 backup onto it with jail break so that I can carry on with using the new device from where I left off. Thanks!

You should have no issues putting the old backup on the iPad. You can use iTunes to do so by selecting "restore from backup" (reached by right-clicking on the iPad line and letting iTunes do its magic. It won't change the iOS version...

But, I recommend doing the jail break first (if you find a stock iPad with a jail breakable iOS). It'll just make the jail break that much easier.

Oh, and with Apple now pushing iOS 7 out, just be careful when you first open a stock iPad. You will probably get a notice that an update is available and do you want to update. Just make sure you say "No"...
