Can you speak Marie? A little?:o

When you browse any app in Cydia, the topmost option is 'Change packet options', owtte, mine's not in sorry english.

So you tap on it and it gives you an option to slide it Off, or On. When you slide it to on, you will be notified with updates, as if the app were installed.

Marie enough, or too little, or barely got the message across???

:D

Claps hands helplessly above head

The purpose of turning the setting to On is to receive updates of apps, you may want to buy/install in the future. You get automatically subscribed to updates for all installed apps, so you only use this setting, when you find a nice iPhone-only app, where you go: Mine!, but then hesitate, as it is iphone only. So you set the setting to On and as soon as the app gets updated, you get to know about it and can thus reconsider buying the app.

Hey guys ~

What does it mean when it says "this package has been assigned?"

Do you mean "signed"?

"If you're on one of the newer idevices Apple is restricting what firmware you can install on it by only allowing firmware that they've "signed". Saurik set up a system that keeps the keys that you need to sign the firmware cached so that they're available even after Apple has decided to stop signing a specific version of the firmware. This will allow you to downgrade your firmware (With a few jumps through hoops I assume) even after Apple has said you're not allowed to use the version you're downgrading to. Using Cydia on the newer devices send the request to Saurik's server to get the keys from Apple for your device and then stores them for future use. So if you have one of the newer devices and you've been using Cydia then your keys are most likely already cached (it says what versions the server has cached when you open the main Cydia page, at the top, in greenish writing)"

scratch that, Saurik has posted a precise article here... see Step 5

Marie, bottom line is you don't need to worry about it. You won't get anything bad through Cydia with the default repositories, and it is just a way to prove that the package comes from who it says it comes from.
