Hey guys ~
What does it mean when it says "this package has been assigned?"
Do you mean "signed"?
"If you're on one of the newer idevices Apple is restricting what firmware you can install on it by only allowing firmware that they've "signed". Saurik set up a system that keeps the keys that you need to sign the firmware cached so that they're available even after Apple has decided to stop signing a specific version of the firmware. This will allow you to downgrade your firmware (With a few jumps through hoops I assume) even after Apple has said you're not allowed to use the version you're downgrading to. Using Cydia on the newer devices send the request to Saurik's server to get the keys from Apple for your device and then stores them for future use. So if you have one of the newer devices and you've been using Cydia then your keys are most likely already cached (it says what versions the server has cached when you open the main Cydia page, at the top, in greenish writing)"
scratch that, Saurik has posted a precise article here... see Step 5
How to Host a Cydia Repository - Jay Freeman (saurik)
Marie, bottom line is you don't need to worry about it. You won't get anything bad through Cydia with the default repositories, and it is just a way to prove that the package comes from who it says it comes from.

Yes yes! I think it is "signed". Oh, Lord. I have no clue what you are saying up there....

My ipad is about to completely die. If it does I will lose my JB. So...should I let that happened, then update, and re jailbreak.
Or...hell ~ I have no clue, actually!
DontUnderstandMyIpad said:When your iPad dies, you bin it.
If however, the battery runs low and it turns off, you connect it via USB to your computer, fire up redsn0w and select 'boot tethered now' to make the iPad boot jailbroken once again.
You could also update and than rejailbreak, but that takes a little longer.
. If you can get it to a wall charger, I would do that now.

Or, how about charge it first. Most computers don't charge iPad. And why boot tethered with a dead battery? I would update to 4.3.2.
SweetPoison said:Okay ~ I will do that now, while I am out. Then I will follow your steps, Leigh.
Don't forget me guys, okay?

After I charge it ~ I then update? Then fire up redsn0w?
grayshark95 said:Well... Charge it no matter what. But, if you want to update to 4.3.2 then do it when your iPad gets some more charge. It doesn't have to be full. Or, if you don't want to update, then plug into your computer and fire up redsnow. (I would recommend updating)
On another note... Nobody has said anything about my avatar. You guys must not like it.....
