Walked my cat 3 hours ago realizing there's no cat at all at the end of the leash. Troy went home ahead of me. I felt so.....

Surreal!!!

I am sternly reminded of the craze for those virtual pet leads some 15? Years ago. I think the leads are still for sale.

I remember those pets but not the lead. How do the leads work? Do you need to be.... you know, nudge nudge wink wink.....to use them?

Just back from a great training ride around my little estate nearby, preparing for the cross-country Olympics . (What a shame about my fibbing habit!!)

Is it humid over your way? It's at almost unbearable level here (for many of us Brits who aren't used to this rain-forest / Kew Gardens Glasshouses atmosphere). But perhaps you like humid heat? I will go check the stats. Don't really need to as my legs have stopped working, which gives the stats away. Makes it difficult, especially when trying to climb over wall-to-wall, panting little cherubs...:-)

Those leads may have appealed to a certain sector in society, but were tried out by folks pretending they loved their pets. The leads were like curved and had a pretty non flexible core, with Lester or PVC strips plaited around. Then there was a collar fixed to the end of the lead. These objects were, as you can well imagine, ridiculed by comedians, such as Dick Emery and Kenny Everett.

Scifan has posted a great link.

Now, I'm showing my age :)

How did I miss these when they were around? I have some rope-covered wire made ages ago, which could be converted...
Will think about it!

........"Dick Emery and Kenny Everett"
They were just yesterday, mate. Can you remember any of WW2 ?

Now, steady there Stranding! Tommy Trinder and Norman Wisdom had a lot going. I remember watching Norman filming Up in the World when I was a youngster! Our house was opposite Pinewood Studios - and what a playground for a gang of boys, if we could get in without being spotted. :D

Opposite Pinewood! Gadzooks man. Had I been you I would have refused to grow up. :)
Fahrenheit 451, Battle of Britain, the numerous 007s, most of the A L I E N franchise. A playground for all ages.

Agreed AA. Wow imagine living near there. The closest I got to it was driving past there.

You bet!

I saw the sets for Cleopatra (but never Liz Taylor or Richard Burton), a couple of 007 films, a Morecambe and Wise film, a maritime disaster film. The sets for these various films were built in a huge field near a public road.

The sets were amazing.

We were in. Iver Heath when "the One That Got Away" was filmed. Because of petrol rationing, we would walk about a mile to catch a bus on the main Slough to Uxbridge Road. My mum walked that road twice a day. She was often accompanied by Hardy Kruger on those walks.

When we lived in Western Canada, travel to California was relatively cheap. Each visit we
stayed at the Ambassador ( well out of its prime by then but still nostalgic).

We'd spend our days and nights scouting movie and TV location shoots. One night we sort-of got folded into the operation as it moved around us. Next thing you know we were having cheese sandwiches with the help. :)

Don't forget all the Star Wars filming at Pinewood Sudios.
