I'm surprised how widespread this practice is.
It's unnatural. We're not a hive species, so why build like one.

When friends from Ireland visited us they were surprised that the houses in our development did not look all the same. When we visited them I saw what they meant - houses in developments or estates there seemed to be carbon copies of each other, much like the "little boxes" trend of the sixties. In the Midwest of the U.S. most of the houses in developments are much more interesting than the ones I saw in Ireland or the ones your see crammed in some California neighborhoods.

I'm doing the dreaded washing of the display china on both sides of the fireplace. We have loads of blue and white china. It has taken me 3 hours to wash the left hand side. I'll leave the right hand side for another day. My new kitten, Cocoa, has fallen asleep again. He does that a lot! One minute tearing around and the next, flopped out somewhere, recharging batteries.

If Troy wants to go outside, he would scratch the door to my room. When in put on his leash, he'll directly walk to the front door. If you just want him to go outside, you have to drag him. Is this the result of feeding him Alpo dog food for days when I ran out of Friskies or Whiskas (cat food)? He befriended the guard dogs outside and sometimes sleeps with them. I'm definitely confused. Or is he confused thinking he's a dog?
