Can I ask a question about the camera connection kit? I am thinking about asking this from Santa. ...is there an option to select which photos go onto your iPad, or is it an all or none?

Also, if you decided to delete your photos from your Cameral roll on your iPad...is that possible?

All the photos from your camera or SD card are presented to you onscreen and you can choose to import them all or pick and choose which ones are imported to your iPad.
You can delete individual photos downloaded with the camera connection kit. You just have to open the imported folder and tap the edit button. You then tap the photo you want to delete and it's marked by a blue check mark. Now tap the delete button at the top left of the screen and a pop up appears asking if you're sure you want to delete. Tap the big delete everywhere button in the popup and your unwanted photo is gone.

Thanks, Sci--what about of we wanted to delete later from the iPad?

Check my edited post.

...and this is why our forum is so great and informative! Thank you, Sci...I am now including this as a definite on my Christmas list! In see that you have used yours quite a bit and think I will too, especially when uploading here. I am usually putting the photos on computer than uploading it to Facebook and here....or emailing it to myself. So, I like the kit better, seems quicker! :)

The kit IS quicker. Once you've selected the photos for importing, it only takes a few seconds for each photo to download to your iPad.

That "delete everywhere" option is a bit concerning. Have you used it and where does it all delete?

That refers to the import folders, there are two for each group of imported photos. One folder for the photos in a specific import and the second folder that contains all the imported folders. Of course each photo is actually stored in only one location, the photo app. The photos in the folders are just bookmarks for that photo, just like photos you tale from the camera roll to,place in other folders are actually stored only in the camera roll.

Scifan has answered everything in his usual thorough fashion.

I find the connection kit useful. Downloads are fast.

However, I haven't seen the iPad screenful of thumbnails of the photos on the camera or SD card, as Scifan describes. I need to do some tinkering to discover this. At present, the connection options are like a "blunt instrument". Down load everything or delete everything on the camera or card!

What I do like is the appearance of folders which hold shortcuts to photos by the date taken.

I do use the facility to check and delete photos of my choosing from the camera roll, or chosen photo links in the folders.

All in all I have no regrets whatsoever in buying the connection kit. I guess you will be adding this to your shopping list for tomorrow's "Black Friday" discounts in the Apple stores, Skimonkey. ;)

What time does Santa get to the local malls in California?
Not sure, it just says "coming soon" on the schedule web site for my mall. That probably means pretty soon!
A few weeks ago they were constructing the giant tree. Like half of it was there, and you could see the frame! That is obviously not a real tree...
