Good thing she stuck to her guns and convinced the network execs to run the show. If it wasn't for her intervention there would be no Kirk,Picard,Sikso, etc.

Yes; without her, the only Star Trek episode ever produced would have been The Cage, the original pilot rejected by NBC.

Reading an article about who helped start the Star Trek series. Interesting.

Yes, the article is interesting. I knew she owned a share in the studio.

Perhaps the biggest advocate STOS had in its corner was RCA. It owned NBC and it also was a company that made TVs. Colour TV was in its infancy in the mid 60s. STOS was always intended to be a colour production so in RCA's corporate mind it represented content for its line of colour sets.

"STAR TREK - The Real Story" is a worthwhile read. It addresses in great detail the knock down brawl that ensued when producers came to TV networks, trying to sell "smart" dramatic science fiction programs.

I recall watching Star Trek for the first time in color. I guess it was early 1967. It was my first time watching any TV in color but about half way through I realized that I had no idea what was going on in the episode. I had been just watching the color, not the program!
