The "Anything Goes" thread

Apparently Facebook will be locating a major hub in Lulea, Sweden. The extreme cold 6 months per annul, and a plentiful cheap supply of electricity were two main reasons for this. Will others such as Apple move there to?

While I was in the dentist's waiting room yesterday I was looking through the autumn 2012 edition of the Audi magazine. One of their journalists, Dylan Jones, wrote a rather nice essay about iPad. I have tried to find the article on the Internet without any luck I even downloaded the magazine app from iTunes and still no luck.

Now I don't know whether this article is in the International edition of the magazine however any UK readers should visit an Audi showroom and ask for a copy of magazine. The article is on page 39, and the strapline is "my iPad 3 has almost become my mistress as I spend more time with her than anyone other than my wife."

Perhaps I should try and contact Dylan via the Internet to see whether he would publish a copy of this excellent article on the forum. Of course being such a lover of iPad, he could very well be a former member! ;)

I searched a bit and was able to establish that Dylan Jones is a staff writer at GQ but couldn't find the article you referenced.

This is what my Gentec dumb terminal looks like with a keyboard in front of the thing, Notice the keyboard isn't connected because it is a 6 pin Commodore 64 serial port style connector that it uses, this is an AT keyboard, which is a 5 pin DIN

Yesterday, I paid in a couple of cheques into my account at the building society.

I used a new facility whereby each cheque can be fed into an OCR reader in the cash machine.

The machine shows a view of the item and asks you to confirm the amount. Then I was given a receipt with a legible thumbnail of the cheque. You repeat the process for each item being paid in. It's a very very neat system :)

Has anyone else used such a system?

We don't have it here. What we do is enter the amount of each cheque onscreen, place the cheques into a deposit envelope and insert it into the machine when prompted.

So am I doing this correctly, I mean trying to join in and write things and ask questions? :-)

You can talk about almost anything in this thread. If you have a question about a specific device, app, etc., we have designated forums. For example, if you have a question about the iPad 3, the question should be asked in that forum.
If you want to talk about something not covered in the other forums , then by all means, come here and ask away.

Good morning all from Sunny London :)

Richard, I wish you get the writer of iPad on the Audi Magazine to join us, that be great. I haven't seen the article yet would love to, maybe tomorrow I will stop at the Audi dealer in green park on the way home and pick up the mag.
