The "Useless Information" Thread

Camel hunting is illegal in the state of Arizona.

It might have been illegal at one time. Arizona (along with Texas and Nevada) was once home to some small herds of camels. In 1856 and 1857, the U.S. Army imported camels with the intent of forming a Camel Corps to move freight and men within the desert. The Civil War put the Corps out of business.

The California and Utah Camel Association bought army surplus camels and sold them in Nevada. A San Francisco merchant imported camels from China to establish an express to Great Salt Lake City. He gave up in 1862, but the camels he left in Nevada created such a stir that the state legislature there banned them from public roads in 1875. One private herd was turned loose near Indianola, Texas. In other areas, some of the camels managed to get loose on their own. Arizona declared camels extinct in 1913, but hunters reported seeing them in the desert around Yuma into the 1950s.

So, it's possible Arizona once had a law way back when intended to stop people from shooting escaped or abandoned camels. Nowadays, however, the Arizona Game & Fish Department is the organization that regulates hunting within Arizona, and it says it has no regulations regarding camels.

If you have three quarters, four dimes, and four pennies, you have $1.19. You also have the largest amount of money in coins without being able to make change for a dollar.

The body consumes more calories in eating a piece of celery than the celery contains.

So you can sit on your backside and eat just celery and the pounds melt away? Wow, I smell a breakthrough diet late night infomercial in the works.

Santa Claus is the largest IP Rights violator on the planet. He brought me a new Harmonica and I know Hohner did not license him to make one.

Santa Claus keeps lists on everyone. How do you all suppose he knows if I have been bad or good? Microphones in the shower, is how. I found one so I know this is true.

Santa breeds Elves just to work in his massive forced labor camps and factories at the North Pole. To be fair, he is the only person that will hire one. Ever go drinking with Elves? They are rude and belligerent. They will slit your throat if you insult one.

Elves are the largest non-union workforce on the planet.

Santa conducts business in every country on the planet and he does not pay taxes or other fees. Do you suppose it is because he has something on everyone? Those often mentioned lists might be a clue.

14 percent of all so-called Nigerian scams are actually not scams . . . they are legitimate offers from decent kings and potentates.

According to Al Capone's business card, he was a used furniture dealer.

Interesting.

The business cards in my collection include one from when he was a banjo teacher in Hoboken.

Al was a man of many talents, that is for sure.

He also ran a dating service, he would lend money to poor people at reasonable rates, he sold colas and other beverages, and he owned a social club. He was a family man. Apparently, he had a big family of like minded souls.

Does anyone know if he was ever involved in any criminal activity? I know the press likes to smear good men doing God's work, so I just do not know. You really can’t believe what you read on the web and I have always wondered.
