Los Angeles's full name is "El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula" and can be abbreviated to 3.63% of its size, "L.A." and means "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of Porciuncula "

Yes but, "Mötley Crüe" couldn't fit that all onto a CD cover and, Vince Neil would have to take a breath between "la Reina" and "de los".

Worldwide; more than 4,000,000 acres are devoted to the cultivation of eggplant.

Talking about crops.......A full seven percent of the entire Irish barley crop goes to the production of Guinness beer.

And talking of stamps, ever hear what i hope is an urban myth about parasites in the adhesive which transfer themselves to your tongue and burrow into it?

But there again leelai is it an urban legend that there are more venomous/poisonous/lethal critters per/person in Australia than anywhere in the world? Just wonderin' and I'll bet there will be more than a mild response. :D

That one is true I believe. My hubby was almost bitten by a deadly tiger snake a few weeks ago when we were in Melbourne. We were walking on a bush track coming back from viewing a waterfall when I looked down and saw it rearing up right between his legs. I still can't believe it missed him, must have been the fact that he was moving that the snake didn't know where to strike.

It then reared up at me......luckily hubby kept walking as I couldn't get out anything intelligible at the time and was just a blathering fool! ;)

Most homes in Queensland do have red back spiders. We have many here and you know to have a good look before lifting anything outside first. Never had a problem with them although when they start dropping down on webs from your light fittings, it can be a bit worrisome and time to spray. Spray won't kill egg sacs though.
