Lol.....we do have lots of deadly critters here.

I know we have quite a big python roaming here too somewhere......my neighbour saw it just before Christmas. I worry for my cats and dog especially after one of our dogs disappeared without a trace about 5 years ago. :(
 
Oh that's awful........and I only licked about 50 of them a couple of weeks ago on invitations.....then there were stamps for Christmas cards too.

During World War II, bakers in the United States were ordered to stop selling sliced bread for the duration of the war on January 18, 1943. Only whole loaves were made available to the public. It was never explained how this action helped the war effort.

While this was going on is that where the expression "as good as sliced bread" came from?

Beats me stairless, I can't figure out what advantage there would be this ban. Maybe whole loaves where considered "The Best thing since sliced bread" 8)
 
Other than to conserve the steel used to make the multiple large band saw type blades used to slice the loaves of bread.

You are probably correct todfloyd, all metals were considered scarce during that dark time.
