As i've said in one of my topics on this forum, restoring your iOS device isn't (UNFORTUNATELY!) as simple and as straight-forward as just plugging in and following the basic instructions. It REALLY rarely works on the first try! In my experience with all my iDevices, restoring has NEVER worked on the first try. You always have to keep at it, sometimes for over an hour before you finally get the device restored via iTunes. It has to do with glitches in iTunes, as i seriously doubt that any iDevice would show any instability when in DFU mode. If you get any kind of error while restoring in iTunes (it's the only application that you can use to do your restore), just unplug the device or close iTunes and re-open, or both!! Keep trying until the black screen of your device in DFU mode, suddenly lights up with the apple logo and the progress bar appears! When it does, iTunes will show further information about the restoration. Now, you can celebrate with a Harlem Shake!
Although i am aware that jailbreaking is not allowed to be discussed, i believe i am allowed to say that for those of you who jailbroke your devices and ended up having to restore due to the device being unresponsive and permanently showing the apple logo, then you should SERIOUSLY reconsider installing any Cydia apps, as most of them are poorly coded and not always updated to work perfectly with the latest iOS version on your iDevice. I have tried and done almost everything (i like to explore the possibilities of my devices) and from solid experience, i can say that you should stick to the official iOS apps. If your devices crashed due to poorly coded Cydia apps, you will most likely never be able to recover any data on your iDevice, and will be forced to restore back to original factory settings. Also, if you do a restore, you will obviously lose all jailbreak functionalities on your iDevice and will have to jailbreak again.
