Something like this has never happened before there.
Just imagine: the half of a house torn apart by a mudflow; water standing up to the windows in regions where that never has happened before.
This is terrible news Johanna. Inundation by water is an awful disaster.
I hope there were minimal casualties. Your country will be in my thoughts.

Did they have enough warning to move to higher ground? That looks like really bad flooding, I hope they don't see this every year there
One last link and update - winds picked up during the day to 80 kph (50 mph) but are back to around 25 kph. Watched about 30 fire engines into the area while I was getting gasoline this morning, most red but a couple of blue trucks and what looked to be a green one and a couple of busses with firefighters came in too.

This has never happened before. The people were preparing for flooding, but not at this amount. Afaik it isn't over yet.
A whole valley (Pinzgau) is inaccessible.
The floods were reported on the 8.00 am news. It sounds like Hungary is now affected. The river is Europe's 2nd largest, so the potential devastation by the floods is...... Awful to contemplate.
