This was a hundred years ago. At one time, wooden water pipes were quite common. Vancouver B.C.had them,I've seen the excavated remains.
 
The farthest north I've been is Whitehorse,Yukon Territory at this same time if year.A night is so short here at this time of year that it almost seems that if you blink,you'll miss it.

Fun to see glimpses of olden days. Every once in awhile, seeing a patch of paved-over cobblestone emerge from a pothole makes me think of generations before.

We have that in Regina.The downtown streets were paved with wooden blocks which sometimes come to light when roadwork is being done.
