What's new

What do you think you'll use your iPad for?

I figure I'll use it for casual net surfing and reading comics... I'm not entirely sold on reading books. My eyes tend to lose focus after long spans of time in front of any screen... plus with all the dynamic content on the internet, I find it mighty difficult to just stare at a page of text.

I'm very curious about how comics develop on the iPad. I work for a comic book publisher and you can sense that many American Publishers sense that the iPad will have a significant impact on month-to-month comic sales. I assume that holds true for all facets of the periodical business. It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out!

Oohhhh...i like the idea. The golden age of comics may be over but the digital age for comics is near. Iphone has revolutionized a lot of aspect and now it's the
Ipad's turn.

Books, (moving my ereader from my phone & Kindle) I am hoping netflix and as a dayplanner of sort.

I am now using a mobile pc and loath it as i cant see it. So between this and my iphone I think I will be set.

Websurfing (especially Facebook, cruising forums like this)
Twitter
RSS feed reader
Reading books
Games, especially Plants vs Zombies, Ancient Frog and Words With Friends
As a "Daytimer" of sorts, using Contacts & Calendar synced to my iPhone via MobileMe
Email (tho' I sure wish mBox or some other app would be updated to work on iPad, since I use Hotmail)
Did I mention Twitter? ;-)
Watching videos and listening to music (especially on airplanes & at hotels while traveling)
Rudimentary (non-work) word processing
And Twitter

I believe prices for ezines are starting to go down and in the coming months it will be more apparent the definitive emergence on the digital format. Less chopped trees and wider distribution of quality content. As an example Wired ezine reduced the price from $4.99 to $3.99 and I am waiting for this trend to continue. This is one of the uses where the iPad excels and where I am more exited. I want content for the iPad to become more interactive and original and a quality content where I don't necessarily need to directly navigate the internet to get it. Also the inclusion of iBooks for the iPhone and iPod touch will help to accelerate the "transition" to a digital format. I am expecting more graphic novels with increased interactivity for the iPad and better games too.

As I can see from this thread, most people use iPad for the same purposes: movie watching, reading e-books, comics, magazings, browsing the web. Actually, I`m not an exception;) I also use it mainly for entertainment, for sending messages, and as an organizer. I hardly can imagine using it seriously for business needs, though for some specialists it opens up great possibilities. I heard even surgeons use it to watch zoomed operation process. I think with the help of various apps there can be really found a lot of curious ways of using the tablet.
