That's great to be able to put in busy hours during the day and then be able to relax and unwind for a time in such a nice campus setting. And to have a lake there too!

I tried to photograph a squirrel in one of my trees, but all I got was its tail.

This White Wagtail was hunting insects in my garden. I managed to take pictures when it was sitting on my roof.

Blue herons so often pose for us. This one was fishing and was very still.

Such a majestic creature. We see them at Long Point on the north shore of Lake Erie. There is a protected wetlands / marshland area on both sides of the causeway that splits the bay. Haven't been for a few summers and sadly, may not make it this year either.

I am very fortunate to live next door to my Alma Mater! It's been a godsend for quick walks, Theater and a round of Golf! :)

Loving all the pics!

@ Scifan--the picture of the Squirrel tail is still really cute! They have the bushiest tails, quite the show tail if you ask me!

@ JA--what a cool bird, a wagtail! Such pretty markings it has!

@ Czevski and AA--Blue Herons are just a majestic bird. I remember when we moved and lived on Lake Front Property growing up. Seeing a Blue Heron for the first time was just bizarre to me, coming from the city like that! It looked like something from prehistoric days. :)

Interesting that name of your bird. (and a nice bit of photography J.A.) We get a lot of wagtails in the back yard, but I never have a camera handy. Ours are the Willy Wagtail and he's a real character who would put a dog to shame in the tail wagging business:) And quite bossy too when demanding his turn at the bird bath.

Now that I have a camera with longer telephoto, I'll keep an eye open for a shot.

Thanks for all of these great photos folks. Spring has well and truly sprung, judging from the variety of wildlife showcased ;)

@ski. Your heron and pond is a setting very similar to one in a residential estate near us. A couple of days ago I walked through there and took a couple of photos of the pond with some mallards swimming, watched by heron sculptures. The latter have been installed by the estate residents to keep real herons away from the fish.

I will be posting photos from this walk and another under the thread in which I posted photos from walks in my neighbourhood.

Just like that it is now summer! I enjoy all the photos that are posted in various threads, but most of my come from my walks in parks near my home.

Canada geese and a mallard - common sights along the way. No red winged blackbirds posed for me but I heard plenty.

This tiny frog (toad?) was hard to get as he's so close to the color of the path. There were plenty of them in the grass on the edge.

I was planning to photograph the wild roses but got a surprise.

Fantastic pics you took of your walk, czevski! Love the pic of the toad--tiny little guy, eh?

I need to take some pics next time I go for a walk at the university or maybe even our downtown park! Might be able to catch some guys fishing if I'm lucky! :)

With a little luck you can try again in ~ 2 hours, when the moon is completely full.
