What's new

What I see in my backyard...

............

Wow...are they done with it now? By the way your flowers look wonderful!! :)

The old garage has gone. There is lots of rubbish to go. I'm thinking they may be building a prefabricated garage. I'll be keeping some interest in their project :)

Thanks for the comments about our flowers. I have the sprinkler on at present, watering the whole front garden. Then the rearmost garden needs a good watering as the trees shelter it from rain, and roots suck out ground moisture.

I checked for what is going on there. The house is being extended and a new double garage is being built at the rearmost boundary of the garden.

Richard do you have water restrictions where you live? We have it here where we can only water from midnight to 5 am. Great for those who have auto sprinklers, but for us we don't! :(

here in Yorkshire we sometimes get hose pipe bans,it's a real pain trying to water everything with a watering can and washing the car from a bucket intend of the power washer.

That's what we've had to do also, but we sneak a little and turn the Hose in when nobody is around? We had to keep refilling our water cans to get both the front and the back. Finally our grass was starting to dry up too much and so we had finally watered the lawn! Otherwise it would have turned completely brown!

so far this year we have been ok,we haven't had much rain though so i'm not ruling it out at some point,i'm glad we don't have a lawn to water.

When a drought is declared, the water restrictions - hose pipe bans - kick in 3 or 4 weeks after the drought has been declared. Hopefully there won't b any bans this year.

amazing isn't that one of the wettest countries in the world has hose pipe bans.

Yes, it's crazy. If the long term forecasters are right, we have 10 years of wet summers ahead of us.

Interestingly (or more likely really boring!), I was watching a BBC documentary about the Sun a few days back. Apparently there has been a gradual decline in the number of sun spots year on year. The last time that the sun spots disappeared there was an event known as a "mini ice age" (or something like that!). The Thames froze over so we could be heading for much more wintry conditions.......remember where you heard it first!
